Metrorail Derailment in Paarl Leaves Passengers Injured

Paarl, Western Cape – A Metrorail train derailed near the Dal Josafat station in Paarl on 17th September, resulting in injuries to multiple passengers. The incident occurred just after 6:30pm as the train was traveling from Paarl to Cape Town.
Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene to assist the injured and assess the damage. According to authorities, 29 people sustained injuries, ranging from minor to severe and were rushed to various hospitals where they are currently still being treated. No fatalities have been reported.
The cause of the derailment is currently under investigation by relevant authorities.
Passengers affected by the incident have expressed frustration and concern over the safety of public transportation in the region. The derailment serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by Metrorail and the need for improved infrastructure and maintenance.
