Rapper Molemo Maarohanye, better known by his stage name Jub Jub, will be back in court on April 23 after his rape case was postponed yet again on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024.

This latest postponement comes after Jub Jub’s legal team requested their representations be heard by a higher office within the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), specifically the office of the National Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Jub Jub faces serious charges, including rape, attempted murder, indecent assault, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and kidnapping. The charges, allegedly committed between 2006 and 2010, have been brought forward by four women. Actresses Amanda du Pont and Kelly Khumalo are among the complainants.

Jub Jub, who has pleaded not guilty to all charges, was initially arrested in July 2023 and released on bail of R10,000. This is not the first time the case has been postponed.

The April 23rd date signifies a wait for both the prosecution and the defense as the NPA considers the representations submitted by Jub Jub’s lawyers.
