In a recent incident that has sparked intense debate on social media, the South African Police Service (SAPS) forcibly removed TV presenter Shamiso Mosaka from a Fly CemAir plane in Durban. The incident allegedly stemmed from accusations of disruptive behavior before take-off.

Mosaka took to social media to shed light on the situation, claiming that she had been unfairly targeted and subjected to discrimination. Although she claimed she hadn’t caused any disturbance on flight 5Z 0329, police were summoned to address the situation.

The South African Civil Aviation Authority strictly prohibits behavior threatening aircraft safety, including verbal or physical assault. The authority deems engaging in disorderly conduct or interfering with crew members unlawful.

Widely circulated video shows police attempting to escort Mosaka off the plane as she vigorously defends herself. She insisted on her innocence, claiming racism by the air hostess and refusing to leave without another flight arrangement.

CemAir, in response to the incident, released a statement. They noted that any instances of disruptive behavior onboard are taken seriously and dealt with in accordance with established procedures, including involving law enforcement if necessary. Additionally, CemAir stated that they are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident to address any concerns raised and to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

The incident has sparked numerous discussions online, with fellow travelers sharing their own negative experiences with the airline. One unhappy passenger, Phetoho L recently wrote about a situation on a CemAir flight from Durban to Johannesburg.

They reported that an air hostess accused a young woman of causing trouble and took her off the flight. Additionally, they claimed they were threatened with being removed when they attempted to help. This suggests there might be issues with how airlines treat passengers.
