Jacob Zuma Wins Appeal, Stays on uMkhonto weSizwe Party List

The Electoral Court has decided that Jacob Zuma can stay on the list of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party. The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) objected to Zuma being on the list because he was sentenced to 15 months in prison in 2021 for not cooperating with the Zondo Commission. However, Zuma was released from prison on medical parole.
The IEC’s lawyer argued that Zuma’s release didn’t change the court’s original decision. Nonetheless, the court ruled in Zuma’s favor.
