The South African music industry is gearing up for its biggest night of the year – the highly anticipated Metro FM Music Awards (MMAs) are set to take place on Saturday, April 27th, 2024, at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga. This year’s ceremony promises to be a night to remember, filled with glitz, glamour, and, of course, incredible music.
The MMAs recognize and celebrate the very best in South African music. From established artists to rising stars, the awards honor achievements across a wide range of genres, including kwaito, gospel, hip hop, and many more. The nominees, voted on by the public and a panel of industry experts, represent the vibrant tapestry of South African sounds. To show support to your favorite artist, dial *120*45787# with USSD rates charged at R1.50 per minute. Voting is said to close on the 21st of April.
A Night of Entertainment
The awards ceremony itself is a star-studded event, featuring live performances by some of the country’s most celebrated musicians. This year’s lineup has yet to be announced, but past ceremonies have seen the likes of Mafikizolo, DJ Black Coffee, and Cassper Nyovest grace the stage. In addition to the awards presentations, the night promises to be filled with show-stopping visuals, red carpet glamour, and a touch of Mpumalanga magic.
More Than Just Awards
The MMAs are more than just an awards ceremony; they’re a celebration of South Africa’s rich musical heritage and its power to unite the nation. This year’s event, hosted by Metro FM in partnership with the Mpumalanga Provincial Government, further strengthens this commitment by showcasing the beauty and cultural significance of Mpumalanga.
