The murder trial of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane hangs in the balance as the accused deny involvement and court dates face postponement. Thabani Mkhwanazi, Siyanda Eddie Myeza, and Lindokuhle Ndimande remain in custody after their initial bail applications met varying outcomes. The accused are set to appear in the Durban Magistrates Court next week, as the bail hearing was postponed to 15 May 2024 on Friday.

Accused Challenge Evidence

The accused strongly refuted the state’s allegations while in court on Tuesday 2 May. Mkhwanazi and Ndimande dispute cellphone records placing them at the crime scene, with Mkhwanazi arguing such data lacks precision.

“I understand that cellphone evidence never gives exact locations and is dependent on the available cellphone towers provided it is within a 4km to 10km radius. I dispute such allegations that place me at the scene where both AKA and Tibz met their deaths.”

Thabani Mkhwanazi, one of the accused in the case, in response to allegations linking him to the murders.

They also insist that large payments received from another accused, Mziwethemba Gwabeni, were for legitimate business dealings. Myeza presented his hospitalization records as an alibi. He claims that on the night of the murders, he was being treated for a gunshot wound sustained earlier, making his presence at the scene impossible.

Trial Date Postponed

The bail hearing has been postponed, pushing back the initial expectations for a trial start date. The case will return to court in May, where Gwabeni and Lindani Zenzele Ndimande are set to address the state’s opposition to their bail requests.

Ongoing Case

As the case progresses, the spotlight remains on the credibility of witness testimonies and the evidence presented. The public continues to follow these developments with keen interest, seeking answers and justice in this high-profile murder trial.
