Johannesburg – A 46-year-old teacher was fatally shot on Monday morning outside a primary school near Durban, South Africa, in a shocking act of violence that has sent shockwaves through the nation.
The incident occurred at Phikiswayo Primary School in Ntuzuma, a township located about 25 kilometers northwest of the coastal city. According to local authorities, the teacher was called out of her classroom by two gunmen and shot dead on the spot. The horrific crime unfolded in front of young primary school students, aged between six and 13.
The KwaZulu-Natal education department expressed deep distress over the incident and called for a swift investigation. Provincial Education Minister Sipho Hlomuka offered condolences to the victim’s family and the school community, pledging support to those affected by the tragedy.
