Brisbane, Australia – The Springboks delivered a masterclass in rugby as they dismantled the Wallabies 33-7 in a resounding victory to kick off their Rugby Championship campaign. The reigning world champions showcased their dominance across the park, with a ruthless attacking display and a resolute defence.
From the outset, the Boks were in control, with a series of early penalties highlighting Australia’s struggles to contain the South African pack. Siya Kolisi crossed the whitewash for the opening try, with Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu converting to give the visitors a 7-0 lead.
Pieter-Steph du Toit extended the advantage with a powerful score, and Kurt-Lee Arendse added a third before halftime as the Boks went into the break with a commanding 21-0 lead.
The second half was more of the same, with the Springboks continuing to dominate possession and territory. Kwagga Smith and Arendse added further tries to seal a comprehensive victory.
While the Wallabies managed a consolation try late in the game, it was too little too late for the hosts, who were completely outplayed by a dominant South African side.
The victory sets the tone for the Springboks’ Rugby Championship campaign, and they will be confident of building on this impressive performance in the coming weeks.
