The 9th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) concluded with a renewed commitment from China to support Africa’s development. The event, held in Beijing from September 4 to 6, saw China pledge $50 billion in financial assistance to the continent, focusing on key areas like green technology, infrastructure, and the digital economy.
Economic Advisor Rugare Mukanganga, a key contributor to a report on Sino-African collaboration, sheds light on the latest breakthroughs in China-Africa economic ties.

Another key area of collaboration is the digital economy, with China committing to bolstering Africa’s digital infrastructure. This commitment includes improving internet connectivity, advancing data management capabilities, and fostering the growth of e-commerce across the continent. As Africa’s youthful population continues to expand, so does the demand for technology-driven solutions. In response, Chinese technology companies are set to play an increasingly prominent role in driving Africa’s digital transformation, paving the way for enhanced innovation, job creation, and economic growth across the region.
