family member, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke to Daily News after the sentencing, revealing that Nompilo was left unrecognizable following the shooting.
The family member revealed that Mthokozisi and his lawyer plan to appeal the sentence, with the appeal hearing scheduled for December 13.
“We hope he loses the appeal and gets more years on his sentence for wasting State resources,” she said.
This was his wife and the mother of his children! He deserved a life sentence. As a police officer, he should have been held to a higher standard and made an example of.
She expressed that while they were dissatisfied with the sentence, they were relieved he was still held accountable.
