“We are honored to assume the G20 Presidency and are committed to working with all member states to address the pressing challenges facing our world,” Ramaphosa stated. “Our focus will be on fostering economic recovery, reducing inequality, and promoting multilateral cooperation.”

Key Priorities for South Africa’s G20 Presidency

  1. Economic Recovery and Resilience: Strengthening global cooperation to support recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, while addressing climate change and geopolitical challenges.
  2. Reducing Inequality and Poverty: Advocating for access to education, healthcare, and decent work, with a focus on developing nations.
  3. Sustainable Development: Promoting climate action, renewable energy, and green technologies to drive a more inclusive global economy.
  4. Strengthening Multilateralism: Enhancing the G20’s role as a platform for international collaboration to address complex global issues.

This Presidency offers South Africa a platform to champion the interests of the Global South, showcase its leadership, and foster partnerships within the G20. By prioritizing solidarity, equality, and sustainability, South Africa aims to shape a more equitable and prosperous global future.
