Hawks Nab Police Sergeant for Fiancée’s Tragic Murder. In a dramatic twist, the Hawks’ Port Shepstone Serious Organised Crime Unit arrested 34-year-old Sergeant Ntokozo Mngqithi in connection with the shocking murder of his fiancée, 33-year-old Sergeant Ntombi Mbanjwa.
According to Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Simphiwe Mhlongo, Sergeant Ntombi Mbanjwa was in her Umzimkhulu home on April 11, 2024, when an unidentified assailant opened fire, leaving behind a chilling crime scene.
“No one was present during the incident and Sergeant Mngqithi discovered the ordeal when he returned home later on that evening. Both members were stationed at Umzimkhulu police station,” Mhlongo said.
After the murder was reported at Umzimkhulu police station, Hawks agents quickly rushed to the scene, launching a thorough investigation. With promising leads in hand, they delved deep into the case, determined to uncover the truth.
In a dramatic turn of events, Sergeant Ntokozo Mngqithi was arrested yesterday. He made a brief appearance at the Umzimkhulu Magistrate’s Court, where he was swiftly remanded in custody as the investigation continues.
The case has been postponed to December 3, 2024, for a bail hearing. Meanwhile, KZN Hawks Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona, commended the team for their relentless efforts in bringing the suspect to justice.
