Calls to remove Eldorado Park SAPS commander reach Police Minister Mchunu

The push to oust Brigadier Mkhacani Maluleke, commander of Eldorado Park SAPS in Gauteng, has reached Police Minister Senzo Mchunu.
Kaldine alleged that the station commander had directly meddled in her case. Community members have voiced repeated demands for Maluleke to be removed from his position.
Johannesburg MMC for Finance, Margaret Arnolds, a member of the African Independent Congress (AIC), has emerged as a key advocate for the removal of Maluleke from Eldorado Park SAPS.
Arnolds strongly stated, “Maluleke has consistently let down the Eldorado Park community and must be removed without delay.” She further highlighted the growing violence in the area, including rape and murder, pointing out that the police have failed to adequately address these issues.
Kamogelo Mogotsi, spokesperson for Mchunu, was unable to confirm whether the minister had received the letter, as he was unavailable on Sunday.
“If the minister indeed received it, he will look at the content and apply his mind. If it calls for an investigation the minister will ensure that there are consequences for those involved in wrongdoing,” Mogotsi said.
Gauteng SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, described the allegations as “extremely serious” and called for the issue to be formally reported so that proper procedures could be followed and a thorough investigation conducted.
When questioned about the police’s response to the community’s repeated calls for Maluleke’s removal, she replied, “That’s a matter governed by Labour Relations regulations, dealing with the employer-employee relationship.”
