For over 130 years, the Rand Show has been a beloved fixture in South Africa, offering families a secure and entertaining experience during the Easter holiday.
Held annually at the Johannesburg Expo Centre in Nasrec, situated just south of the bustling city hub, the event draws significant crowds with its diverse array of attractions. These include a dynamic kids’ zone that fosters creativity and fun, vibrant shopping halls showcasing unique and artistic vendors, a mouthwatering selection of food trucks serving a variety of flavorful dishes, and a packed schedule of lively performances that uplift the atmosphere.
Taking place across five extraordinary days, the Rand Show delivers a wide range of activities tailored to engage every member of the family. Highlighting the event’s distinctive character, CEO Adele Hartdegen states, “The Rand Show is really an event for the people. We’ve developed a new Ocean Wonders experience that takes the beach to Johannesburg, allowing tourists to discover the amazing undersea environment through engaging digital media. Children may play in a huge beach area specifically built for enjoyment and exploration, creating lasting experiences in a safe environment.”
This year also sees the return of the music festival stage, featuring acclaimed artists such as DJ Zinhle, who will energise today’s crowd, and the well-known performer Scotts Maphuma, who will captivate audiences tomorrow. The Rand Show remains a cherished tradition, bringing happiness to families while enriching South Africa’s cultural heritage with its diverse shopping opportunities and enjoyable activities.
Running from April 17 to April 21, 2025, the event introduces new features to elevate the experience further. The Adrenaline Zone offers exciting attractions like drifting, spinning, helicopter flips, 4×4 rides, and bungee trampolines. The Kids Zone captivates young visitors with glow-in-the-dark face painting, treasure hunts guided by mermaids and pirates, and sandcastle-building adventures within the Ocean Wonders area.
Adding to the appeal, the MamaMagic Baby Expo makes its debut this year, providing parents and expecting parents with expert guidance, innovative baby products, and hands-on workshops. Meanwhile, outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the Caravan and Boating Exhibition, which highlights the latest equipment and trends for outdoor living.
The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) showcases thrilling interactive displays, including mock attack demonstrations and a tribute to fallen soldiers from peacekeeping missions. Other attractions include a giant inflatable jumping castle, stunt shows featuring spinning and drifting, and a virtual aquarium experience.
With its broad range of offerings, the Rand Show continues to embody South Africa’s vibrant culture, innovation, and communal spirit. Whether visitors are seeking action-packed adventures, family-friendly fun, or a glimpse of local art and cuisine, this event promises something special for everyone.
