Cape Town – A vibrant pink powder known as “Tusi” has landed on Cape Town’s streets, raising concerns about its potential dangers. Originating in Spain, where it’s called “Tucibi,” this substance has fetched prices as high as R1 000 per small packet, suggesting its targeting of high-income drug users.

The arrest of a 28-year-old suspect in Grassy Park on Thursday shed light on the local presence of Tusi. Acting on a tip-off, police executed a search warrant and discovered 10 sachets of the pink powder on the suspect. Grassy Park station commander Colonel Dawood Laing highlighted the potential for this drug to be overlooked by authorities due to its unfamiliar color, urging further investigation into its source and impact. Furthermore it is believed by sources at rehabilitation’s Centre report potential effects of “Tusi”, including vivid hallucinations, prolonged sleep episodes lasting up to 6 days, and severe appetite suppression for extended periods, potentially leading to malnutrition. These effects are particularly concerning because they can have serious long-term consequences for users’ mental and physical health.”

“Time is of the essence as we delve deeper into the Tusi network,” warns Colonel Laing. “Every scrap of information, every whisper, brings us closer to dismantling this supply chain. We urge the community to stand with us. Parents, be cautious guardians – monitor finances, talk openly, and together, we can keep our children safe from this emerging danger.”
