Mc Junior (real name Siphelele Zondi) might be walking away with a cool R2 million after winning Big Brother Mzansi season 4, but the soft-spoken contestant insists fame and fortune aren’t what drives him.
Mc Junior’s journey to victory wasn’t your typical strategic gameplay. He freely admits he “went with the flow” throughout the competition, staying true to himself and letting his personality shine. This authenticity resonated with viewers, propelling him to the top spot over fan-favourite Makhekhe (Tshepo Tau) in a nail-biting finale.
While the house was filled with the usual dose of reality TV drama – squabbles, gossip, and even allegations of sexual assault – Mc Junior made it clear he wasn’t there for the limelight. His sights are set on bigger things.
Mc Junior has said on multiple occasions when asked about his motivations for entering the competition,
“I entered BBM because I had dreams and goals that required financing”.

He has a business venture in mind, but staying tight-lipped about the details for now. Whatever remains of his winnings after the initial investment will go straight into securing his future.
This season of Big Brother Mzansi wasn’t without its controversies. Makhekhe himself found himself in hot water for his part in an incident with fellow housemate Bravo B, who was ultimately disqualified. However, Mc Junior says the experience was a learning one for Makhekhe.
“The Bravo B episode was an eye-opener for me,” admits Makhekhe.
“Growing up ekasi, you hear a lot of disrespectful language towards women. BBM taught me how to respect women and I want to take this message back to the township.”

Both Mc Junior and Makhekhe underwent psychological evaluations upon leaving the house, a step taken by the producers in the wake of past Big Brother seasons that have seen contestants struggle to adjust to life after the cameras stop rolling.
Mc Junior may be leaving the Big Brother drama behind, but Makhekhe is embracing the possibilities that come with his newfound fame. Open to a career in the spotlight, he hopes to use his platform to empower others.
One thing’s for sure – both Mc Junior and Makhekhe have come a long way since stepping into the Big Brother house. And while only one walked away with the grand prize, they both emerged winners in their own right.
