South African icon and former Miss South Africa, Basetsana Kumalo turned 50 in style with a three-day “golden jubilee” celebration fit for royalty! The festivities kicked off over Easter weekend in Cape Town, with A-list guests like Thuli Madonsela, Tamaryn Green (Miss South Africa 2018), Nandi Madida, Zakes Bantwini, Nomzamo Mbatha, and Pearl Thusi joining in on the fun.

The party started on Good Friday with dinner, themed “The Colour Purple – A Symphony of Elegance” at the Pigalle restaurant. Basetsana, while looking every bit the birthday queen, dazzled in two glittering gowns designed by Gavin Rajah and Hangwani Nengovhela of Rubicon Clothing.

Day two saw the celebrations move to the Tokai’s sprawling Norval Foundation for a lavish “Gratitude Banquet and Birthday Celebration.” This night promised to be extra special, with heartfelt speeches and a chance for Bassie to express her appreciation to loved ones.

As Basetsana reflected on her 50 years with gratitude and humility, she expressed her heartfelt thanks to all who had joined her in marking this special occasion. The festivities wrapped up on Sunday with a “Thanksgiving picnic” in Bishopscourt, a perfect way to end a truly unforgettable weekend.
