London, England – South Africa’s Lloyd Harris has been eliminated from the Wimbledon Championship at the All England Club. Harris faced a grueling second-round match against the United States’ fourteenth seed, Ben Shelton, who triumphed 4-6, 7-6, 6-7, 6-3, 7-6 in a nearly four-hour battle.
In other second-round action, seventh seed Hubert Hurkacz of Poland was forced to retire in the fourth set of his match against Arthur Fils of France. Hurkacz, trailing by two sets to one, withdrew during the fourth set tie-breaker due to a knee injury, allowing Fils to advance.
In the women’s singles, fifth-seeded American Jessica Pegula was upset by China’s Xinyu Wang, ranked 33rd in the world. Wang defeated Pegula 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 to move on to the third round.
