Groblersdal, Limpopo – Two Mexican nationals appeared in the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court today on charges related to the discovery of a massive drug laboratory valued at R2 billion. The arrest, which occurred on July 19, 2024, in Groblersdal, marks one of the largest drug busts in South African history.

The sophisticated drug laboratory, capable of producing large quantities of crystal methamphetamine, was discovered on a farm in the area.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Hawks and the South African Police Service, seized over R2 billion worth of chemicals used in the production of crystal meth. The laboratory was dismantled, and the suspects were arrested on the scene.
