Snowfall Impact on N3 Toll Route and Other Roads

Due to heavy snowfall, the N3 Toll Route between Estcourt in KwaZulu-Natal and Harrismith in the Free State has been closed by the N3 Toll Concession (N3TC). The closure is due to icy conditions, wet weather, and poor visibility, which are affecting various sections of the route. These conditions are creating hazardous driving situations across KwaZulu-Natal, the Free State, southern Mpumalanga, and Gauteng. N3TC strongly advises against travel in these areas to ensure the safety of all motorists.

In addition, the Penhoek Pass on the N6 between Jamestown and Komani in the Eastern Cape is partially open to light vehicles. However, the Barkley Pass on the R58 between Elliot and Barkley, as well as the R58 road from Elliot to Ngcobo, remain closed due to heavy snow. Motorists are strongly encouraged to postpone their trips or consider alternative routes to avoid these affected areas.
