Johannesburg, South Africa – A 21-year-old South African woman has been arrested at OR Tambo International Airport for drug trafficking. The woman was caught smuggling drugs concealed within her body, marking the eleventh such arrest at the airport in just two months.
The woman was intercepted by South African Police Services (SAPS) and South African Revenue Services (SARS) Customs officials upon her arrival from São Paulo, Brazil, on Sunday morning. An X-ray revealed the presence of foreign objects in her stomach, which were later determined to be drug capsules.

The woman is currently in police custody, and medical professionals are monitoring her as she expels the drug capsules from her body. The exact number of capsules remains unknown.
National Commissioner of SAPS, General Fannie Masemola, praised the vigilance of the officers involved in the arrest. He emphasized the ongoing efforts of SAPS, SARS, and other law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking at South African borders.
