Umzinto, KwaZulu-Natal – A horrific incident unfolded in Umzinto, KwaZulu-Natal, where a man confessed to murdering his girlfriend on social media before taking his own life.
On Wednesday morning, a video surfaced online of a man identifying himself as Sibusiso Lawrence admitting to the brutal killing of a woman. Shortly after, his body was discovered hanging from a tree in the Malangeni district, a short distance from the crime scene. On the live video, the man, Sibusiso Lawrence, can be seen with blood stains on his face and explains on why he murdered his girlfriend. “You will say I’m ruthless. I tried, I worked hard in my life trying to satisfy the woman, trying to make her happy. I lost many things, a lot of money, a lot of everything.”
The events began on Tuesday evening when police responded to reports of a murder on a gravel road near Malangeni. Upon arrival, officers found the lifeless body of a 25-year-old woman lying in the middle of the road, bearing multiple stab wounds. A broken knife was found near her body.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Lawrence had picked up his girlfriend from her home earlier that day. It is suspected that a domestic dispute escalated into a violent altercation, culminating in the woman’s tragic death.
Following the murder, Lawrence allegedly abandoned his car near the scene, with blood stains on the front passenger seat, indicating the killing likely occurred within the vehicle.
A subsequent manhunt led to the discovery of Lawrence’s body, suggesting he took his own life.
